Being and Possibility
Invitation to a Thought Experiment
Being and Possibility
Seeds of Possibility
Exploration
To take the exploration of possibility in your own life a stage further, we offer what can sound like a kind of thought experiment.
We invite you to consider that it may be our way of being that creates the conditions required for Possibility.
Join us as we embark on a series of investigations into 'who we are being'; how much choice we have about who we are being; and, once we access that choice, how best to proceed.
This requires an authentic way of being - in touch with our own integrity and willingness to choose with responsibility. We therefore refer to thinking and responding out of touch with integrity, willingness and responsibility, as being 'out of integrity' or 'inauthentic'. These are not judgements. They are simply
observations. In each observation there lies the seed of a new possibility.
Although this is more philosophical than psychological in both intent and process, the outcome often looks and feels like a psychological shift.
From Personal to Organisational Transformation
People who have experienced one of our programmes, say things like
- the problem / job / relationship has been transformed
- I am free to be myself
- more committed
- happier
and
- more productive
- than I would have thought possible
Feedback from organisations that have offered our programmes to their staff, include words and phrases such as
- a huge effect on the way I approach my work
- transformed my relationship with line manager and peers
- helped me enable others to work through the whole process of what they are trying to achieve, to see what they are pre-judging as outcomes and allowing them to experience a freer way to engage
- effects transformation in others rather than temporary change
and
- made a difference to me and ...other people, and I know it has made a difference to the organisation
At Last
Touchstone
Being and Possibility, while it may sound a bit highbrow, abstract, or far removed from everday experience, can become a touchstone for living a life that both feels free and contributes to friends, family, colleagues and beyond.
Beingness
Once we discover this for ourselves, we become aware of something akin to 'owning our self' (as possibility).
It is as if we have found the key to our own 'beingness' (again we have to make up a word because our English language doesn't quite have a name for it).
We inquire into the thought that maybe our beingness is the context out of which possibility arises and that we have choices about how our own beingness looks, sounds and feels, to ourselves and to others. This then would be the way in which we can create our own (authentic) possibilities. It is this experience that prompts people to say,
"At last I feel in control of my own destiny."
We refer to this feeling, and experience, as personal agency. You are in your own driving seat.
